Fabrication Project for the Power Industry
Austin, TX

CCC’s in-house fabrication shop (IMC) fabricated five beams measuring 18" wide x 5' tall x 127' long with their associated cross members.  It only took 4 months from fabrication to field delivery.

These were long span beams designed to clear two railroad tracks and vehicular lanes. The bridge itself was designed to withstand water-truck access and vehicular traffic onsite.

The challenge
The beams were so long and the site was so constricted that the trucks would not have had enough turning radius to get onto the site. We hired a very specialized trucking company that had custom trailers with hydraulically controlled rear axles that swiveled on the back portion of the trailer; thus allowing access to the job-site without incident.
