Major Modernization of Sugar Mill
Florida

CCC Group’s scope consisted of several contracts for a major modernization and expansion project.

The majority of the project was fast track with pipe design and existing facility modifications design being completed as the expansion was constructed. CCC coordinated ten major vendors and specialized equipment suppliers as well as self-performing all disciplines on this project.

In the second phase, CCC was responsible for the installation of the major foundations, structural steel and equipment setting for the evaporation plant. In the third phase of the project, CCC partnered with the client to refurbish and expand the main processing plant, the most complex portion of the project.

The Challenge
The greatest challenge was to demolish and reconstruct portions of the processing plant in and around the operational facility without disruption to the production.

Project included:

  • Fabrication and erection of over 5,000 tons of steel structures and pipe racks
  • 10,000 cubic yards of concrete
  • 93,000 linear feet of pipe (ranging from ½” – 52”)
  • Hundreds of auger cast piling
  • Installation of the process equipment
    • Over 100 Process Pumps (from 10 HP to 600 HP)
    • Condensers
    • Tanks
    • Evaporators
    • Vacuum Pumps
    • Crystallizers
    • Specialized Continuous Vacuum Pans
    • Reheaters
    • Scales
    • Conveyors
    • Heat Exchangers (Ranging In Weight From 17 To 150 Tons)

The project was completed AHEAD OF SCHEDULE …originally
conceived 3 year project was completed in TWO years.
